The fake day starts when I go out the door.

I lie day after day.

I plan a perfect lie every day.

It is fakery!

In the beginning, the project setting is about the man’s daily life. The idea is from the toast. Before I come to UK, I didn’t make toast and wash the dish very often. After I come here, I cook by myself. There is one day when I wash the dish, the water is become a shape by toast dots. Suddenly I got an idea. We are all the fake people after the breakfast. After the breakfast, we have to go to work or school, to meet some people you don’t like, or lie to them. For example, the boss or the tutors. I would like to use a poster to express the idea in that moment. After that, I continue the research and think about more. I try to find more connections about fakery. In the end, I decide to us the lie to present this theme.

Everyone lies in his or her life, and the words, lies and life is very similar. I use the bracket into life become the project name. It has two meanings, lie and life. They are also the main elements of my work. I try to think the normal lies around most people’s life, and I start to write some stories.

About the cover, I change the typeface with some letters. The concept is like what I say on the cover. ‘ I lost lots of beautiful things in my life because I lie’ I wipe some parts of the letters, and people still can recognize them. The missing parts mean lost the beautiful things.

There are many different fonts and different ways of typography in this work because I believe the lie is diversity, and each lie from everyone is also a different story. Also it connects to the cover, ‘messy’. The main colour is black is I want people focus on the stories.

The interesting part is the page about smoking. My mother is my big fan; she always asks me to send my work to her. For this reason, I usually put the translation with Chinese in my work. It could help me to practice my Chinese typography and also help my mother to understand it. I was in Taiwan during the Christmas and did this work in my home, so my mother knows about I am doing this project. It means I need give her one copy. So there are two versions in this work. I cancel the smoking page and move the other page next to cover the two pages. This version sent to my mother.
